This is a course on contemporary syntactic theory and its application to the analysis of English and other languages. We will build on the knowledge of syntax that you have gained in LIN402 Intro to English Syntax/LIN4209 Syntax I, and apply the same system to a more complex set of linguistic phenomena. You will also develop your ability to generate and test hypotheses using the theory of syntax developed in Carnie's Syntax: A Generative Introduction.
