This fully a-synchronous, Online module is for students studying the LLM Distance Learning degrees. It is not available for students studying the LLM on-campus degrees: if you are studying your LLM on campus, then please register for the on campus module. This fully asynchronous, Online module focuses on dissertation and long essay writing as practised in Law studies. This module will help students write linguistically sophisticated dissertations which through their clear line of argumentation reflect an understanding of the theoretical and methodological constructs of the discipline. The students will be exposed to different styles of researching, organising and writing an LLM dissertation within the framework of the dissertation writing guidelines laid down by CCLS and School of Law. The students will be encouraged to employ meta-cognitive strategies to reflect on their writing styles. Based on the focused topic of research, the students will formulate research questions independently and will be guided in refining research questions so that their dissertation has greater focus. Regular formative feedback on writing produced on the module will be imperative in ensuring learning outcomes.
