Browse Hierarchy EAL4680: English Pronunciation Skills

This module is designed to provide students with the opportunity to develop their accuracy in the pronunciation of English. The module explores the varieties of English pronunciation that exist in our increasingly globalised world, including standard English, and provides students with opportunities to practise listening and speaking, both extensively and intensively, through use of the multi-media language laboratories. Students also develop their knowledge of the phonemic chart and analyse the relationship between intonation and meaning. Throughout the module, students examine issues of fluency, clarity and appropriacy, which involves a variety of tasks and activities, which are undertaken both in and out of class. Students are provided with regular formative feedback from the class tutor and from peers.
