The increasing prevalence of machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) in our lives has been called the fourth industrial revolution. This module will review the wide range of applications of ML / AI, taking examples from different sectors (e.g. finance, healthcare, commerce, art, science and the humanities). Ethical issues surrounding the development and use of AI will be identified, and students will also learn the key types of machine learning algorithm, and how to tailor these to particular problems.
