Browse Hierarchy QXU6002: Materials Selection in Design
The module builds on QXU4011 to develop materials selection skills appropriate for engineering applications. Introducing material selection concepts including processing constraints in design. An appreciation of the interaction of processing and material related cost considerations and the need to adopt a simultaneous engineering approach. The use of design guides such as Ashby diagrams is a key skill developed in the module. Lectures 40; Tutorials /computer lab-based problem-solving classes 6; Case studies (whole class) 10; Office hours 8; Total 64 hours.
