Browse Hierarchy QXU4002: Chemistry for Materials
The areas to cover are: Essentials of Polymer Chemistry (with an emphasis on kinetics and thermodynamics) that includes the kinetic classification of polymerisations, step-growth vs chain-growth polymerisations and their kinetic derivation. Examples related to reaction mechanisms will also be provided. Additionally, further kinetics and thermodynamics of relevance in materials science will be explored focusing on heterogeneous reactions, solid-state reactions and functionalisation of materials. The module includes introduction to redox chemistry and thermodynamics of corrosion of materials.
