This module is designed to equip students with practical skills and an understanding of the underlying principles of programming the World Wide Web. Major topics include Internet and web server basics, client-side programming using HTML5, Cascading Style Sheets, and JavaScript, server-side programming using PHP, and practical issues on setting up a website. The module also covers issues surrounding the technical development of web services. Students will undertake basic programming using a range of common web languages. The programming concept of a markup language, a scripting language, and event-driven computation will be delivered.
