The process of European integration is arguably the most successful contemporary example of regional integration with 27 Member States pooling sovereignty in a broad range of policy areas. This module focuses on how 'Europe' governs across a variety of policy areas (single market, single currency, the welfare state, migration) with EU governance conceptualized as one in which state and non-state actors from various levels of governance (regional, national and sub-state) operate and interact to create policy coordination and harmonization across the Continent.
