This module will develop and extend the English skills of students on the Joint Programme, ensuring that they are fully capable of meeting the demands of studying and being examined in English. The module will cover spoken and written English, and will offer extensive practice in formal and informal communication, using presentations, essays and English clubs. Although some scientific English will be covered, there will be a strong emphasis on improving students' spoken English. This module must be passed before progression into the second-year of the joint programme is confirmed.
