This module focuses on the origins, evolutions, and practices of the Chinese legal system. The first part addresses the historical and institutional foundations of the Chinese legal system. The second part provides critical insights into a number of selected aspects of Chinese private and public law with the overall purpose to critically assess the main legal challenges China is facing today. Taking stock of China's central role in the globalisation process, the third part considers the interactions and interdependence between the Chinese legal system and the international legal order.
