This module explores registered trade mark law and related regulatory systems (include the protection available for unregistered signs in the tort of passing off). With a primary focus on the law of the United Kingdom, it will also provide international and comparative perspectives on these bodies of rules. We will cover the law relating to the registrability of marks, infringement, defences, revocation and passing off. Students will encounter doctrinal, theoretical, commercial and cultural aspects of the subject.
