This course is an introduction to the disciplines of law and business studies and aims to develop a critical understanding of both the legal framework of business activity and the economic and global commercial context in which law operates. We will draw upon law and legal thought to reflect critically on contemporary business issues. The module will commence with an introduction to the English Legal system followed by an examination of contract law, company law and employment law (among others) which are the legal jurisdictions easily relatable to business. Thereafter, the module will aim to develop an appreciation of current global economic and business issues and the challenges they pose for law and law makers.
