The module introduces students to appreciate the concept of quality in the context of software solutions development. The narrative of the module revolves around the issue of quality in software development confronting the practices of solutions development and understanding the community of practice followed in ensuring quality is maintained in the context of solutions/software development. The practice of information systems development is broadly discussed from a methodology standpoint. This will allow students to critically reflect on development practice and subsequently understand how a methodology could be changed or substituted to accommodate quality at its core. The module exposes the students to concepts around quality, project management and software development methodologies, tools and practices as followed within the development cycle. The module is offered as a work based module that will enable the learners to reflect on the practice in industry to learn and develop a nuanced understanding of how quality is embedded in practice.
