You will learn about the present challenges in developing new treatments for neurological and psychiatric conditions. You will study the neuropathology of Parkinson¿s disease, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, schizophrenia, mood disorders, Alzheimer¿s disease and traumatic brain injury. Imaging approaches and biomarkers of disease will be discussed in detail. You will also learn about the neurobiology of the immature brain, and how the immature brain responds to injury. The module will give you an introduction to the principles underlying the development of experimental disease models. You will be introduced to lipidomics and to the neurobiology of endocannabinoids.
