Students develop applied understanding of major asset classes, trading strategies, market dynamics, technical analysis, risk management, and trader decision-making in real-world contexts. The module integrates lectures, Trading Floor Briefings, case-study discussions, and practical market exercises using real-time simulated global financial markets and industry-standard trading platforms available in the School's trading laboratory. Students are encouraged to analyse market developments critically using a range of professional financial data sources and digital tools, including Bloomberg and alternative market platforms. A key feature of the module is the development of evidence-based trading judgement. Students learn to formulate, defend, and evaluate trading decisions under uncertainty, integrating macroeconomic developments, market expectations, technical indicators, and risk-management principles. The module also develops students' ability to engage critically with AI-generated financial analysis and digital market information. The module places strong emphasis on authentic financial-market practice, communication, analytical reasoning, and reflective evaluation of trading strategies and performance.
