This is a module in the applied microeconomic analysis of social issues of topical importance in and outside the UK. Issues such as crime, poverty, and mental health would seem to be the main research domain of social sciences such as psychology, sociology, and politics. However, economics has provided valuable theoretical and empirical insights that have contributed to current debates on all these issues. Students will have the opportunity to look at these various social issues through the lens of the economic approach.
