Browse Hierarchy EBU6308: Computational Creativity
Computational creativity is the philosophy, science and engineering of intelligent systems which take on creative responsibilities - tasks like music composition, game design, fiction writing, mathematical discovery, writing rap lyrics, or providing thoughtful critique of an artwork. Its practitioners work at the cutting edge of artificial intelligence, building assistive tools and autonomous systems, inspired by work both in computer science as well as allied fields like psychology, sociology, and many creative practices. Through a mix of lectures, practical tutorials and discussion groups we will explore the theory and philosophy underpinning computational creativity, and learn how to use a range of artificial intelligence techniques to build computationally creative software. Over the course of the module you will also undertake a personal project, which acts as the sole evaluation for the module. This project will allow you to put your theoretical and practical lessons into action, and to explore your own ideas and views about the field.
