This module is an introduction to the representation, analysis and processing of digital multimedia. JavaScript, HTML5 and/or Adobe multimedia authoring tools are also introduced. Interactive multimedia content is developed in the labs via mini-projects. The lectures cover topics such as sampling and quantization, colour models, 2D graphics and animation, sound, image and video representation, compression and encoding, hearing and elements of psychoacoustics, elements of vision and JPEG.
