The module examines the basic principles of intellectual property laws, such as copyrights, trademarks, domain names, patents and trade secrets and legal issues such as the patenting of electronic commerce business methods and software, liability of platform and technology providers such as with P2P file-sharing, domain names, keyword advertising, protection for online databases and other digital phenomena and considers the various interests shaping the development of IP law.
