Powerful and popular, fairy tales have long cast a spell over different forms of artistic production. Writers, composers, choreographers, film directors and fashion designers have all found inspiration in these age-old narratives. This module explores fairy tales in print and performance as well as in visual and material culture, enabling students to understand the interrelationships between mediums as well as their distinctive contributions to the fairy tale form. Medium-specific overviews will be combined with focused examination of key scenes in a range of versions.
