Browse Hierarchy COM5220: Literatures of the Postcolonial World
In this module you will learn about several colonial projects: British, French, Dutch, American. You will understand how these different colonial regimes produced vastly different projects of decolonisation as well as very diverse bodies of postcolonial literature. You will study texts originally written in English, as well as works translated into English from French, Dutch, Hindi and Bahasa Indonesia. You will also read the work of some key postcolonial thinkers, such as Said, Bhabha, Gandhi, and Fanon. The focus of the module will be on non-European authors, and on the experience of colonialism from a non-European perspective.
