The module will provide students with in-depth knowledge and critical analysis of the legal and regulatory principles and the soft law standards applicable to international banking activities. It also investigates banking supervisory architecture in the UK, the EU, and at international level. The regulatory framework analyzed covers the entire life cycle of a bank from its inception to failure. It also discusses banks' types and activities. By the end of the module students will be equipped with adequate knowledge and critical understanding of both the special nature of banking activities and of the applicable regulatory and supervisory framework.
