This compulsory 15-credit module builds from and extends the content delivered within the first year compulsory non-credit BUS169 'Professional Development - I' module and is aimed at Level 5 students. The module helps students develop their skills for employment. As well as offering specific guidance and support with internship/placement/job applications and employer Assessment Centres, the module offers a range of sessions on a variety of employability topics, including graduate job market and recruitment practices, commercial awareness, identifying skills 'gaps', personal branding, effective communication, working in groups, and interviews. The module will also advance students' conceptual and empirical understanding of employability and the contemporary labour market by critically engaging with relevant trends, evidence and analysis. As part of the module students will be required to engage with a range of compulsory professional development activities from a carefully curated diet designed to help them get career ready. Students will also learn about how the Queen Mary Careers and Enterprise and School of Business and Management can support their employability while at university.
