This module offers an immersive exploration of UK biodiversity, conservation, and urban ecology, focusing on Britain's unique ecosystems. Students will engage in field surveys, case studies, and workshops to investigate the challenges and opportunities in managing and conserving biodiversity in an urban context for example. The module emphasizes the development of practical skills and critical thinking relevant to careers in conservation. A short field research project (10 working days), will be undertaken under close supervision and assessed by a 3,000 word piece of coursework, the title and structure of which is to be agreed with the supervisor.
