This first-year module introduces students to Population Health, Dental Public Health, and Evidence-Based Dentistry, laying the foundation for further study throughout the BDS programme. It covers the prevention of oral diseases and the promotion of oral health through population-based approaches. Structured teaching focuses on prevention, communication skills, and oral hygiene instruction (OHI). Students will also gain familiarity with laboratory services, learn to search medical databases, understand common epidemiological study designs, and develop skills in critical thinking and applying evidence-based dentistry.
